To anyone on the fence: Wait for the LGR review! He's always right on the money when it comes to Sims content.
But personally, I went ahead and got it in spite of my concerns. Because Origin's actually pretty cool, If worse comes to worse and it sucks I can just get it refunded.
I mean, I understand EA's business practices when it comes to these games so I know I'm pretty much inviting them to dip their hands in my wallet. But fuck it, I'll shamefully admit that I'm a sucker for The Sims. That said it looks alright. And hell, based on the demo, the Create-A-Sim is my favorite in the series. Some of the missing things disappoint me, but the rest of the game and its improvements are rather great. Hope it lives up to the others.
If you use a vpn to look like you're in Korea you can unlock it to play in like 6 hours I believe.
while i really dont have any worries about the game, i am going to hold off and see what the reviews say
My friend has just had his NDA lifted on Sims 4 and says it's not really all that worth it. They've removed cars, robberies, swimming pools etc. (loads of basic shit) and also there's no longer the semi-open-world aspect that you had 3 where you could travel from lot-to-lot seamlessly. They've actually gone back to loading screens.
He said they've spent far too long on developing their 'emotions' system instead of other bits of core functionality, and - in combination with a lot of features being stripped for future DLC - it's a bit wank.

cars werent in the base game for sims 2 and now that there's loading screens between lots it seems kinda unnecessary - all a car is now is a way for you to enter a loading screen and if your sim can just walk there what's the point?
robberies I can do without, I hardly got any anyway, it was just one of those random but rare events like your sim setting the place on fire any time after the first time they cook
swimming pools, eh, who really used pools? They (along with cars) were for the most part just there as fancy decoration
Game's pretty good. I'm content with my purchase.
People kicked up an unnecessary fuss.
Nobody cared about toddlers or pools until they were removed
Sims content in relation to it's fanbase is like a hoarder's brain compressed into a video game
