Such as, fitting in with the rest of society, being part of the masses, wearing the popular fashion, watching the popular TV shows, listening to trending music, things like that. Do you know what's cool but choose not to follow it? Some people say it's better to fit in but flying the flag of the individual is far more fun in my opinion.
Well, I'm a metalhead so I guess that I'm outside the "social norm".
i dinbt know
I don't do what the mass does so yes, except if I want too
I don't act 'cool' but when I'm with new people I try to stay open and adaptable ofcourse.
I do what I feel like and act how I want. Some of that fits into the social norm and some doesn't, but I alone dictate my behavior.
A universal social norm is a fabrications made up by middle school and high school teens that doesn't actually exsist
There are a huge variety of different "social norms" for different kinds of people, and even then it's mostly superficial.
Can there be an "in between"?
I guess I voted accidentally or something.
I do what I enjoy. if it's in the social norm, or even a 'trend' I'm not gonna avoid doing it just to be different. That's cuntish
I do what I do and that's it.
Yeah, I meant to vote "No" I think.

All the people I know who do stuff just to "not fit the norm" are pertentious fucks who "fit the norm" they created in their otherwise empty heads quite well by "trying to avoid" a special part of it.
I hate everyone.

cheerful!
-snip-
I choose not to.
Besides, the social norm where i am, consists of mw2 and rap.
I watch anime thats outside the norm in the UK...

I'm guessing it's the Dirtee south, young money T-pain crunk side of hip-hop? because rappers like Murs and Chef Raekwon aren't shitty
I just live the life I want to. I even fit into a lot of the things in the above image.
I generally just don't give damn.
Living outside the norm on choice is for people without a life who want to be unique and spend their days crying about mainstream media.
I'am on Facepunch right now I'am pretty sure this is out of the norm.
Nowhere near it.
I don't try to conform, I don't try to do the opposite, and I don't try to not try to do either, know what I mean?

Im british.
..and slap dab in the middle at that. ish.
But in some places, it is the social norm to not fit in the social norm. Like those people that try to be nonconformist end up conforming and making their own culture of nonconformists conforming to the others in their culture.
Most people in social norms have horrible taste in music, comedy, and intelligence and that's why I try to avoid them.

zing
If by "not fit the social norm" you mean not having my MP3 player stuffed with shitty obnoxious auto-tuned talentless pricks, then yeah, I don't fit it.
But there is a difference between just not following the social norm, and doing the opposite of the social norm just because it is the social norm. I don't fit in for the most part with what is "cool" but I don't do it to be "different".
