I returned from a nine day trip to the US and bought infamous and the directors cut of watchmen on bluray.
I come back, turn my PS3 on.
Everything is good, it turns on normally and go into the game. It reaches the SUCKER PUNCH screen and BOOM.
The tv says there is no signal and the PS3'S light is red and beeping. Im like "WTF?" knowing something was completely wrong, knowing that it wouldn't turn on. I turned it on and guess the fuck what. I have the YLOD.
WHAT THE FUCK. WHAT THE FUCK.
a friend (still) has this, and the store says there's no way to fix it and we have to buy another one (or something like that. I think i still have the warranty, so...)
The point of this story? The only reason I didn't buy a 360 was because of the RROD. Woopdi-fucking-doo. I just got sony's equivalent.
Oh, and the disc is still in. Who knows, if they actually fix the damn thing, the disc will be broken.

I dont think there is a way to fix this at home, so I won't bother asking. (is there a way?)

No, its the Disc trays suck ass now, RROD was replaced.
Problem is, in most cases the blue-ray player inside isn't usually included in the warrenty so it costs extra to get it fixed.

It does, but it's less likely to happen than the older consoles.

You can probably still pop the disc tray open. Most PC drives have a little hole you can stick a paperclip in and pop it open, not sure if the PS3 has that. I hope it does.

My friends 360 RRoD's every 30 min you start playing unless you have a fan blowing on it and he sent it back to be fixed 3 times.
This is why I stick to pc gaming, consoles aren't worth it imo.

PCs are usually worse than consoles when it comes to problems like this...consoles hardly ever fuck up.
I prefer PC gaming too however...
Computers are a hell of a lot cheaper to diagnose and fix.

Dude, PS3 costs are skyrocketing down now that it costs less to make them.
Why do you need one, get a blu-ray for your comp and you'll be fine. The consoles are good if you have friends over...
