Sony Earbuds: left side has no bass and is incredibly quiet.

Hey guys, I've been having some troubles with my earbuds lately. I bought the Sony MDR-EX58V a few weeks ago and they're great. They sound just as good as my Sennheisers and were a quarter of the price. However, a few days ago my sister went on a trip and brought my earbuds with her because she broke her 6th or 7th pair, I can't be bothered to count anymore. Anyways, as I imagined, she gave them back to me and they're broken. The right side is completely fine, however the left ear sounds like it only plays higher frequencies, there's no bass or mid and it's also incredibly quiet. I have to crank them up to 100% so the left sounds like what the right side sounds like at 40%.
I took off the little ruber tips and there's no wax that I can see, there's just a little hole and it's not obstructed. If I listen to them without the rubber, it sounds pretty much exactly the same, except without the sound sealing. There's no damage that I can see in the cables or in the jack, they're pretty straight and there's no bends or exposed wiring. Is there anything I can do about this?
Either she blew the driver or that side got yanked and the cabling inside has been damaged.

I doubt she blew the driver, but is there any way I can check/fix the cabling?
dunk it in wax and pray to hulu the god of wire
