Ok, here's the deal. I moved my Computer to my room today, so I can watch por--.... So I could do my studies in quiet. Anyways, after I moved my computer to my room, I realized there wasn't a port in the wall for my ethernet cable. After I moved my computer, a desk, and other endless shit into there.
So, I require internet, and I have a Wireless Router in the house.
However, my Desktop doesn't have wireless apparently, so I'm fucked.
So all in all,
1. Do I need to buy a wireless card, or some other things in order for my Computer to be able to connect to my House Router?
2. If I do, will my internet speed become significantly slower?
Thanks, Facepunch.
Tell you what you need to do, you need to get this bitch:

And use it in the corner of the room.
Then, you will need this:

And you need to use that to get into the attic, or loft, and take said ethernet cable down from the floor into the ceiling.
.... I don't think that's possible, my room is too far away

in good conditions 100 Meter is A-ok
then you answered your own q
You will need a big cable. $£$£ time to fork out, and buy one!

And on the contrary, a good wireless router and network card costs more.
so yeah, going cable is the best solution
Just get a wireless card, I've seen wireless N cards at my local computer shop for around $15, and they work fine for medium distances.
I just bought myself the D-Link Wireless N 150 USB Adapter.
The internet speed seems about the same. It was 40 Bucks, Canadian.
I could've sent you a wifi card for $20 and shipped because I now use wires.
Also, I don't get what people are on about wifi vs wired. Wifi was shit back in 2003, it's come a damn far way since then.
Wifi has come a very long way from that horribly unreliable stuff. Just go for it.
This coming from someone who installed 150M+ of Cat5e into his house.
Being an all-Mac house, we've been using Airport ever since it came out, so our house isn't wired for ethernet. Actually a very minor annoyance when I built my new PC because I had to get a wireless card, but the performance has been consistently 100% solid. The internet line drops out more often than the wireless, and when the wireless does drop out, we simply unplug the router and plug it back in and the internet is up in less than five minutes. The only trouble I've had with the wireless is with my new PC, but that was because the card wasn't seated properly.
TL;DR: WiFi has very little problems if you have a half decent router. It's not fast enough to make a noticeable difference from wired with normal internet if you have a decent signal. Just go with it.
Got it, thanks guys, I ran an internet speed test and everything seems the same.
Ping in my Steam Games are good too.
