I have 600 dollars... No more. I don't need a monitor, keyboard, or a mouse.
I just need a tower.
Is there anyone out there that can put together a NICE gaming PC, for 600 dollars and under?
Games I have in mind, are Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Fallout 3, Crysis, and top of the line games like that.
It needs to be able to run even the most graphically intense games... on the highest settings.
I just want a really fast computer.
Please, give me suggestions.
For 600 bucks you'd be expecting to turn down the settings a fair way..
Too give you a rough idea of what you can get, see This... Though I'm 100% sure someone will come in here and tell you to change some of the parts listed there.

Oh wait, just saw the
It needs to be able to run even the most graphically intense games... on the highest settings.

Pretty sure that's impossible..
He's right, its pretty much impossible to expect to run everything at max on what is essentially a budget computer.
Here's what I came up with though.

Get this. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131626
And add this.

It can run games fairly well, just not on max settings.
If you want absolute max settings on the most intense games, like Metro 2033, you're gonna need a budget of at least $1,500-$2,000.

No.

This, mine cost about $1100 and it doesn't run half the games you listed on max..

What kinda specs you packin'?

I think $800 to $900 would be enough
It can run games fairly well, just not on max settings.
Which one?
I think $800 to $900 would be enough
Well I'm here to tell you that I'm 100% sure your thoughts are incorrect.

I bought it maybe 8 months ago, so it's not worth as much now of course.. But I'd still think it was worth more than 600.

That's still a very nice build. You could easily get your moneys worth if you wanted to sell it right now.

Get this CPU:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103681
Mobo:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157176
Then get this GPU:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121387
You can get a $20 rebate on the PSU and a $20 combo deal with it and the DVD drive.

Also, OP, what's your resolution?

Tom's hardware had a competition involving a ~600$ build a while back, you may want to see it.

My PC from 2008 has a Q6600 (now at 3GHz, because of the summer, 3.6 in winter), 4 GB of DDR2, an HD4850 with accelero S1 rev 2 overclocked to hell, a 500GB internal, 640 external, 2 DVD drives, a scythe fan controller, 4 120x38mm monster fans and a 580W PSU, plays metro on all max except for textures on medium at always over 40FPS at 1680x1050, cost me 860 back then, is worth less than 700 now :colbert:
OP doesn't need to spend a lot, he needs to be efficient.
5770, Phenom II 955, 4GB DDR3, OC.
If made correctly, can run Crysis on 1920x1080, all second maxed and AA @ 2
Well I'm here to tell you that I'm 100% sure your thoughts are incorrect.
If your 100% sure then you don't know jack about building computers.
Thanks everyone for your opinions. I know that I might not be able to run some games on max settings. Really, I'd just like to be able to run the games on an enjoyable level... So that it doesn't lag at all, and doesn't look like a shitball.
All of these recommendations, I'm not sure what to go with. I'm sure you all are correct. I just don't want to make one decision, and then realize that I could have made a better one by doing this, or that.

Obviously, you don't know anything about computers.

Go with GamerKiwi's edits to my build, it will do everything you need it to do.

That's adding processing power that you most likely don't need in exchange for a loss in performance in pretty much everything else. If you had another $400 to spend, then sure, go with the i5. But on a $600 budget, it's not going to get much better than what's been listed here.
Doesn't Tiger Direct sell computer parts more than what other online stores sell them at?
Hey guys, would a $600 build be able to max out TF2 on a 1080p monitor?
(No AA)
Hey guys, would a $600 build be able to max out TF2 on a 1080p monitor?

Without a problem, you could max TF2 with a $400 computer, if you built it correctly.
If you want absolute max settings on the most intense games, like Metro 2033, you're gonna need a budget of at least $1,500-$2,000.
You're wrong, you could easily max the most hardware intensive games with around $900 if you make an efficient build. Unless you're
talking about the highest possible resolution (2560x1600+) with the highest AA, then you're going to need around $1,300. But unless you have the monitor
to handle that resolution, and for some reason want higher than 2-4xAA (Which on such a high resolution would be silly anyway) then you probably have the money
to spend on whatever the fuck you want, which is useless information to the OP.
Doesn't Tiger Direct sell computer parts more than what other online stores sell them at?
I reside in the UK so I'm not 100% certain, but Tiger Direct sometimes have better deals/sales for specific hardware, but overall Newegg is cheaper.
Go with one of the builds listed above, don't buy an i5+, as someone said you'd be sacrificing your GPU for better CPU. A 5770 or GTX 460 would be the best option for a graphics card. Don't skimp on the power supply.
