• Can I use an AM2+ CPU on an AM2 socket board?

I have a shuttle prebuilt from my uncle that has an AMD 5000+, its barely cutting it when I'm trying to play SWTOR and I wont be able to build a new PC for 3 months. I found a CPU on ebay, its a phenom x3 8600 for $55, Just curious if I could use this on my current board and if it would be a good upgrade till I can build a new pc.
No. Or what the below post says
If the bios has an update specifically for it, you should be able to. Unless I've got it backwards.
Check for a bios update Check if your motherboard's TDP can handle it Check if your PSU can handle it
the 8600 isn't really much of an upgrade. it's probably the video card that's giving you the real issues.
