fairy bloom freesia is an incredibly fun albeit short game
the controls are simple but very intuitive, you can make up combos on the fly and combat is incredibly satisfying
definitely worth the low price it is now
If you're into MSX-styled Metroidvanias that are tough and exploration-based, go get La-Mulana. I had a fair bit of fun with it, even if I kept alt-tabbing to check the wiki, and kind of stopped when I got stuck on Palenque.

World End Economica is written by the guy who did Spice & Wolf.
I'm sure you could ask Nintendo-Guy and Reagy about it if you don't know what that is. :v:
Damn, no sakura spirit on this list.
Was surprised to see Go Go Nippon not on this. Especially when Overdrive just announced a sequel/remake in the works.
gunhound EX is great if you can handle the difficulty

A sequel was also kickstarted somewhat recently.

I'd pick up Fairy Bloom Freesia.
