Could I buy a US iPhone and use it in the UK unlocked?

The iphones here are ridiculously expensive but cheaper in America, so would I be able to buy one from there (including the shipping, taxes, etc) and use it here in the UK unlocked? Thanks.
iPhones (GSM) are locked to AT&T, so unless you can get out of the contract and actually get it unlocked by carrier, then you're not going to have much luck unless someone's already done that on something like ebay.
Just make sure it's a carrier unlock and not a jailbroken software unlock.

Hi no unless you unlock your iphone from USA network provider you cant use it on uk .To unlock it visit []removed/ here they ask you the network name to which your iphone is locked .then at last they help you unlock your iphone using remote unlocking method with out jail breaking it .

Also to support your choice; just be aware that all the US iPhones (that I've seen) have fixed sim cards.
