Alright, I'm currently in the Air Force and although this goes on in other branches I'm just gonna speak for the Air Force for this idea. After being chewed out for the 7th DUI on this base this year, I thought of an idea in a formation. Basically I need a device/program that will receive a phone call, and then redirect the phone call automatically to a randomly selected phone number until a number picks up. I apologize if this is not well explained.. basically every time an Airman gets in trouble with alcohol the Chiefs and First Sergeants come out and tell us "Call us, call your supervisor, call someone. Call the commander. It's better then picking you up from jail." and as nice as that sounds, would you call your Commander who's a Captain or a Major while you only have 2 stripes? It's not a phone call many would make. This would eliminate that by randomly patching you through to the list of people so you have no idea their rank, age, position in your chain of command, anything. You may get a Staff Sergeant, or the Squadron Commander and they can come get you if you need a ride. It's just what I thought of while in the formation.. but does anyone know how possible this is? I figured I'd post it here since I'm sure someone somewhat knows how to do it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
No, we can't make an application that fixes your alcohol problem [editline]10th April 2011[/editline] get help
[QUOTE=raccoon2112;29088731]No, we can't make an application that fixes your alcohol problem [editline]10th April 2011[/editline] get help[/QUOTE] I don't have an alcohol problem. And I'm 20. We get chewed out as a whole for 1 person screwing up, and that person wasn't me. I'm trying to create a type of system that allows airmen to call people from their shop without the worry of rank or position which may help preventing these things from happening.
Instead of finding ways to enable others, find ways of keeping people from doing stupid shit. One person fucks it up for everyone, you make life for that one person hell. They will learn not to do that shit again.

They don't exactly play around when people break the law. Honestly, I have no idea how easily something like this would be made (or smart, considering if the person on the receiving end didn't know the person who was calling, they probably wouldn't help so the person would drive home anyway). I can tell you making a program for the actual phone to randomly call somebody would be easy, though. You'd probably want to make it so that person could make a custom list, however. That's if that person would actually use the program. You figure if they had the balls to call somebody, they'd know who to call and not use a randomizer and have a chance of waking up their commander, drunk.
