I've been using a computer I built with this subforums help for about 5 years, but it's starting to show its age something fierce. Over the past few months, the PC shuts itself down due to what I can only figure to be overheating problems. I needed to upgrade anyway and this is the perfect time to do so.
I'm currently using:
Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-MA790X UD3P Motherboard
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3107#sp
CPU: AMD phenom ii x2 545 3.0 ghz -
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103694
4GB of RAM (I think it's DDR 3)
GPU - ATI Radeon 3850 X2
http://www.techpowerup.com/gpudb/228/radeon-hd-3850-x2.html
I'm also in need of a new HDD, my current one is a measly 500GB piece which is constantly being emptied, reformatted and whatnot.
This computer was a budget build when I originally assembled it (£500 or so excluding peripherals), and it's about time I poured a bit of money into it to keep it going strong. Are there any new items on the market I should be aware of?
Can you list your PSU wattage brand and model please.
Upgrade your GPU and ram definitely.
Sorry about that, knew I'd forgotten something!
I'm currently using an OCZ600SXS Stealthstream - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341010

Yes it will work fine and if you can try to boost your ram up to 8gb.
Looking at your board, it only takes ddr2.
I would get a new motherboard and CPU if you can afford it. For how much can you get a 4670k + G41 motherboard?
