Would this be a smart or idea or a stupid investment? I'd like the new iphone for quite a few reasons (my ipod touch 1g is getting worn out, sharper screen, OS4 etc), but i'm not bothered about the phone aspect of it.
Seeing as it's only $200, or roughly £100 i wondered if it would be wise to get it as a replacement for my touch and just not pay for a contract/pay as you go.
wait for the 4G iPod touch. Shouldn't be long now, and overall it'd be cheaper and smarter if you're not looking to use the phone features. Also their is no telling what price it will go for in the UK, considering we always seem to get screwed over with the price of good smartphones, and contract and stuff.
The $200 price is with a contract, to buy it outright will probably be about $800.
Haha £100, no.
An iPhone 3GS is £449 on PAYG.
Haha, £100.

Wait for the next iTouch to be announced in September, it'll probably have the same screen + a camera (though not HD).
just get an iPod Touch...
I don't plan to phone a lot either but I want Internet on the go.

Oh no you would have to have a small rucksack/shoulder bag with you what ever will you do.
You will end up using it as your primary phone unless you own a newish android
[editline]05:20PM[/editline]
also the new iPod Touch will be out soon
Oh no you would have to have a small rucksack/shoulder bag with you what ever will you do.
Cause I will always want to carry a fucking bag with me.
yes
no
Why not just use it as a phone then... ?

Then why don't you wait for a new iPod touch?
Also, the iPhone will never be sold for such prices without a contract. It's one of the most expensive phones on the market.
shit i just bought an ipod touch a day ago and now they come out with an iphone 4? that means a ipod touch 4 is not long behind

You'll obviously need the contract for on the go 3g connectivity. Also, the $200 price tag is only offered when setting up a new 2-year contract with AT&T.
Just use it as your phone.

First two months at $800? Damn, that's a steal. I paid $721 for my first 3G when it came out the second week. Try $1200.

Yup, £500 at least for the 32GB.
Haha OP.
They wouldn't even be able to manufacture the thing for £100.
Yup, £500 at least for the 32GB.
The 3GS 32GB is/was £549, so I'm guessing the iPhone 4 is going to be roughly £649 considering all the stuff they crammed into it.
At least

£499
I'm going to get it, purely because it's released on my payday and I've scratched the shit out of my 3G.

I forgot that they were offering no commitment. Back in the day *flashback* you had to give part of your limbs for it if you were off contract.

Actually It isn't 199$ unless you get the contract I believe it is about 499$
http://iclothing.com.au/
I've already convinced a whole forum of iPad users that these are their new clothing Gods.
you could in theory buy it with the contract for 199 and then terminate the contract for 325 which would be 75 dollars less then if you bought an iphone 4 with no contract at 599
I would just wait for the iPod Touch version to come out. You probably only have to wait 3 more months.
