Yesterday there was approx 350gb free space on my 1tbHD. i looked today and there is 630gb free. the fuck. i haven't uninstalled or deleted anything, the only thing out of the ordinary done was that when i turned off the computer windows installed about 17 updates. and the regular post update install wait time on start up. i dont know if there was some massive logfile being generated or something that these updates fixed. in any case, can anyone give me a link to one of those programs that shows you how your hard drive is divided over files Mystery time facepunch, solve this.
Liar
i specifically remember what my HD space was yesterday because i was messing with a rainmeter skim that measured it and trying to get the percents matched up with that my computer told me. the reason i noticed was my skin on the desktop seemed to have broken again until i noticed my computer said the same thing. funny stuff.
Liar
What are you, four years old?
Windows has weird ways of working out free space. My free spaces changes every half an hour by a gig or 2 without me doing anything.
i really think it has to do with that update windows installed. really weird, any way this could have happend?
The two biggest files on my hard drive are the swap file and the hibernate file. Maybe the update changed the settings on those?
I don't know if it is coincidental but maybe you read one of those as space used rather than free space, since the two together equal about 1 tb
I have disabled my hibernation file, and put my paging file on a spare 4GB harddrive I had laying around. Performance increase has been amazing so far, since this machine is running XP Pro SP3 with only 768MB of DDR400. I notice it most at startup and opening apps like Photoshop CS5.
I don't know if it is coincidental but maybe you read one of those as space used rather than free space, since the two together equal about 1 tb
i thought that too, but i thought about it some more and realized that wasnt the case.
http://www.nooooooooooooooo.com/
i removed one o and it loaded up some random what i assume to be a tech hippie website. funny stuff.
You probably watched gigabytes worth of porn videos from xvideos or any other porn site and it got saved in your temp folder. So when you restarted it all got deleted, getting ready for more temp porno files.
Maybe the windows updates were made of negative data :iiam:
I added some Bleach to my system, and it got rid of GIGABYTES of data... I had over 43GB just "chillin" on my PC... I had checked the box that says "Wipe free space" which is what probably helped, even though the process took about 12 minutes to complete. Well worth it.
