Well, I'm trying to help my dear sweet grandparents out with their laptop. Everything these people touch has something wrong with it, considering this is their 3rd computer. Anyway, the latest in their many computer problems is... well... just look at this pics.

Any idea what's wrong?
Internet settings --> security --> set from high to medium.
If that doesn't work get Firefox and see if that works.
If it does work, still get firefox.
Check Firewall settings.
Check your internet provider box/modem/router settings.
I think that the yahoo url is wrong. I'm pretty sure that's the mobile one as it has m.www. insted of www. as when I access that page mine has no m at front.
From what you say I'm going to say its a virus. A. because you said Grandparents. B. because you said everything they touch has something wrong with it.
Try to scan the whole computer I dunno how avast works but I think you can set it up to scan before windows starts. I haven't a clue how to do it, so you'll have to figure that out.
Why the shit are you using IE anyway?
Internet Security is set to medium. That was the first thing I checked. Also, I would install firefox in an instant, but these are people who wanted me to take steam off because they thought it was a virus. I'll run a scan in a bit. Also, Blarg, m.www.yahoo.com is the new yahoo homepage, www.yahoo.com now links to that.
Check tools>internet options>advanced and make sure the show picture box is ticked. I doubt that is the case because you can see some pictures but it's worth checking.
Also run a scan for spyware.
Ah okay I've never touched yahoo so I haven't a clue.

Also I know their your Grandparents, but don't help them they need to not use the internet.
