Is it possible to fix the PS3 DualShock 3 Controller's pressure sensitive shoulder buttons?

Ours is pretty beat up and we only have one.
To buy a new official one (I refuse to use a knock off) is $57.99 on Newegg, where we'd have to buy from, and I'd rather see if it can be fixed first.
Mostly the pressure sensitive L2 button is unresponsive.
It's mostly jittery on whether it wants to work or not, cuts in and out randomly and the pressure sensitivity is ridiculously low. (Which for games that pretty much require it, like Armored Core: For Answer, that's a really bad thing and it keeps making me fail missions...)
Is there any way to fix this by opening it up or something?
Or is it time to throw it out and just buy a new one?
Why'd you do this? I haven't even gotten to opening it up yet. Plus you should probably mention the previous water damage it was repaired from.
I ain't throwing it out!
P.S. It's only unresponsive if you're violent with it, like you bashing your controllers.
Because before you do maybe someone will come in here posting something that worked for them or someone else?? Idk!
I'm just desperate here, you saw me freaking out.
And I don't want to compensate by focusing my middle finger on not pressing too hard on it...
Possibly the spring inside has been damaged. I had it happen to one of my old controllers. I must of spent about 5 hours trying to fix it but it just kept screwing up, falling apart. In the end I just got annoyed and bought a new one.
