• Quick Question: Is this new RAM compatible?

I bought some RAM from CeX, just want to make sure that it isn't compatible if it isnt, as I tried and it didn't work. Mobo: Elite Group (ECS) GeForce7050M-M (V2.0) Motherboard . New Stick of RAM: 2GB 2Rx8.PC2-5300U-555-13-E1.667 Thanks.
That motherboard supports up to DDR2 800, that memory is DDR2 667, so yes it'll work. The real question is do you already have some memory in this system and are planning to add this new memory? If so, you'll want to match the speed of memory sticks. For example, if you already have DDR2 800 in your system, you don't want to add slower DDR2 667.
I'm not sure, but should it work anyway?
Let's start at the beginning: Before you bought this new memory, did you already have memory in your computer? If you did, then we need to find out what speed. The reason is because mismatched memory sticks could cause problems. If you had no memory, then we just need to figure out why this new memory is not working. It would help to know what CPU you are running.
1. Yes, I did already have memory in my computer. How can I find the speed? 2. I tried it without no memory and it didn't work. 3. AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5000+, 2600 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 2 Logical Processor(s)
CPU z, a free program that is a small quick download. It'll tell a lot about your system. The idea is to find out the settings(speed, timings) of your current memory, so we make sure the new memory has the same capabilities. If, for example, you had faster memory already installed, then tried to add some slower memory, you could have these kinds of problems since the slower memory can't keep up. One way around that is to reduce the speed of the faster memory to the level of the slower memory.
Thankyou for the link. I've took a screenshot of the 'Memory' tab.

What happens when you try to boot your computer up, does it make beeping noises?
So you've bought it and it doesn't work? What happens when you try to boot your computer up, does it make beeping noises?
Well, the fan starts up and you can hear computer, quite loud like it's normally booting up. There is no beeping noises at all, I normally get 1 beep every time I boot up. My screen has no display and says there is no input detected. The orange light flicks on/off every so often in some sort of random patern. When I leave the old RAM in, it boots perfectly fine, however, when I have either the old RAM and the new RAM, or just the old RAM, it does what I just described at the top. Thanks for all the nice help people, I really appreciate it :) [editline]06:43PM[/editline] *bump*
Your current motherboard bios should be version 09/01/05, released in Jan 2009. I bring this up because the release notes mention fixing memory compatibility problems. If you have not flashed your bios since Jan 2009 or bought this motherboard AFTER Jan 2009, this may be your problem.
Thanks, I'm going to do that now. EDIT: I Can not seem to update even with following the steps through carefully, I get Invalid ROM size.
Using CPU z, if you go to the 'mainboard' tab you'll notice a section for bios information. It'll tell you brand, version, and date. What does it say?
OK, I've got the latest BIOS fully working, I found another forum with someone with the same question and it fixed it, I found the wrong BIOS but now It's fine. I'm in Windows 7 working perfectly. [editline]08:46PM[/editline] Tried again with ram to no success. I guess it just doesn't work. Il give you a good rating when I get on my pc tommorow when I get off my iPod
