I have Windows 7 32 bit and 4gb of RAM, until recently it always showed as 3.5gb usable, however it has now started to say that only 2.5gb is usable. What could be causing this?
Your specifications would be helpful.

ATI HD 4870 1GB @ 815/1100
AMD P2 X2 @ 3915 MHz
4GB DDR3 @ 1080MHz
500GB WD Caviar Black
520W PSU
32bit Windows Kernel limits memory usage at 3Gb so no idea why it's showing 2.5Gb for you.
Did you perhaps recently upgrade your GPU?
IIRC, 32bit is limited to 4gb total (not 3.5gb as most people say), that half gigabyte goes to Video (maybe virtual?) memory...
leaving 3.5gb left over, so if your using more video memory, that would cut down the overall,

While 32-bit is limited to a total of 4GB for memory, Windows further limits it to 3.5GB for stability reasons.
No my GPU is the same.
If you have a 1gb RAM stick, maybe it died.
No it still says I have 4.00GB of installed memory, but only 2.5gb is usable.
Do you use the onboard graphics card aswell for more monitors?
Windows 7 said i had 6 Gb installed and 2Gb usable when there was 2 dead sticks in my computer.
