• Should I buy a Mac?

All right, so, I may or may not be getting a laptop for Christmas, and I was wondering if I should choose a Mac. I'm not really that Mac-savy, but I figure I can figure it out pretty quickly. I'm used to Windows but I personally think that Windows sucks now... So, should I get a Mac?
Depends what you want to do with your computer. Be more specific about your needs.
As far as I know, Macs are good for work but not as much for gaming. Windows is the system used most for gaming and isn't that bad at work either. Linux is great for 1337 h4x0rz or some shit, awful for gaming. I figured you'd want to hear most about the gaming part since you're on a forum based on a game.
If you want it to be easy to use and incompatible with everything, get a Mac. If you want it to be easy to use and compatible with everything, get a PC.

Everything a Mac can do - The PC can 10 times better. And Macs cost 2000$ have a shitty OS and have the specs of a 500$ PC. Don't get fooled by the faggot-shit that says that the Mac is better for casual shit. It isn't. Short answer: GET A FUCKING PC.
If you are wanting to do 'Media work' like making movies and shit, it'd be a good choice.
Get a mac if you don't want viruses and hate BSODS. Get a pc if you like gaming.
Get a mac if you don't want viruses and hate BSODS. Get a pc if you like gaming.
There are viruses for macs too :downs:
If you are wanting to do 'Media work' like making movies and shit, it'd be a good choice.
Nope. PCs have way better programs for Video editing.
There are viruses for macs too :downs:
Not as much as there are for pcs.
Not as much as there are for pcs.
Anyone with basic computer knowledge can protect himself from viruses without any problems. Even computer illitterate people can avoid viruses. Most modern AV programs operate without any user interference.
If you're a richie fag who wanna buy a overpriced attemp of PC w/a quality totally disaccording to its own price, go ahead...
Nope. PCs have way better programs for Video editing.
Have you ever used final cut studio?
Mac - Fast & Stable - You can do things like play music, brows ethe interntes, and that's it Windows - Slow, Bloated & Crashes - Great for Gaming, and that's it Linux - Fast, Stable, User Friendly, Customizable, etc - Great for EVERYTHING, not so much for gaming.
Have you ever used final cut studio?
How is it better than Sony Vegas or AAE? Oh wait, it isn't.
Nope. PCs have way better programs for Video editing.
PC =/= Windows PC = Every computer used for personal stuff IBM-Compatible Intel x86_64 Personal Computer = nearly every computer, except servers
PC =/= Windows PC = Every computer used for personal stuff IBM-Compatible Intel x86_64 Personal Computer = nearly every computer, except servers
Mac =/= OS. OS = Mac OSX I guess I just flawed your logic. /pretending to be serious Also, it's kind of pathetic to rate yourself Agree.

Been playing around with Vista on a 5 year old pc?
Someone hates windows. Been playing around with Vista on a 5 year old pc?
I use Windows & Linux. Don't even have a Mac (I do use them though). What he said is true in comparison with the other two.
I love using macs for creative work; Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Shake, the creative suite, it all works together fantastically, and as soon as I have the budget to get one I'm gonna, but I think I'd still like to have a pc kicking around for the odds and ends that aren't mac friendly
How is it better than Sony Vegas or AAE? Oh wait, it isn't.
Vegas is relatively simplified After Effects isn't an NLE Final Cut Pro has a fantastic log and transfer function for tapeless workflow Also interfaces really well as part of the final cut studio package
How is it better than Sony Vegas or AAE? Oh wait, it isn't.
You are actually comparing sony vegas, an amateur video editing programme to the industry standard in non linear editing? Really? I don't know why you are talking about after effects, because it's for creating effects and motion graphics (which it does very well), it's not an entire suite of pro tools.
If you want a shiny, do everything, do it well, expensive computer = Mac If you want a cheap, does shit but slowly, but has a floppy plastic case = PC Dont make me bring out the Ailenware m15x vs MacBook Pro chart. Also, Ignore all the disagree and dumb ratings that will be tidalwaving this thread.
How is it better than Sony Vegas or AAE? Oh wait, it isn't.
Ugh. All Adobe programs, also Adobe After Effects as you mention are compatible with Macs. Sony Vegas is pretty much just a fuckton of presets. And btw you can't compare those two programs
So, should I get a Mac?
No. For reasons above.
quoting myself here, with a few updates:
I own both a Mac and a PC, and I don't prefer one over the other since they both do what I need/want them to do. And I enjoy using both operating systems. I use my Mac for school, photoshop, media hub, hulu, and (faster, idk why) web browsing. MacBook 13" Late 2008 model. I use my PC for games and random shenanigans. Custom built and connected to a 19" monitor.
