Well the giant flashing tail lights give it away, and the simple fix is just do what every other video game ever does and have the cars catch fire and explode when flipped long enough.
I honestly haven't played the game but I don't think this is the winning strategy, though it is rather novel I guess.
is this game good? i'm sick of all these samey survival games, i just want a good battle royale simulator

it is actually REALLY good
So the only winning move is not to play.

aside from the shitty netcode, sometimes invisible players, and general lack of optimization, it's pretty solid gameplay wise. I suggest holding off for a few months until you've seen it progress past this.

yeah thats what holds back all of these games, i cant stand the jittery player movement.
is it so hard to implement some sort interpolation between states?
I heard the melee combat is absolutely worthless jank too.

The netcode itself is actually pretty decent and there's a lot less of a delay than comparable games. One issue is that similar to Rainbow Six the lag compensation has too high a tolerance so someone with with 300+ ping introduces substantial peekers advantage for one party or another
That being said, only once or twice have I been killed while the shadowplay of it showed that I was very clearly in cover for quite a lot of time, but most of the time due to how the game plays out you would have died either way.
The only time I have issues shooting/killing people even if they are laggy though is if the server is having issues, which does cause people to teleport about.

I haven't seen or heard anything about invisible players in 50 or so games? I read about a bug where some buildings were invisible and you could shoot people inside them while happened to me once the other day for 2 specific buildings, but other than that I haven't seen any other major issues.

Yeah it is sadly, but I always expect it to be in these kinds of games to the point I just don't bother using it. The few times I have tried to use it, 95% of hits on people don't register even though the hits themselves are really powerful. The only times I managed to get a melee kill was when I punched a guy to death while he was in the looting animation or trapping him in a small room/doorway.
One of the main issues of melee combat in games like this is balancing it, considering guns are everywhere it feels a bit pointless aside from when you have literally just started and its all you can find and there are people landing all around you, but one big issue with it also is that you all move at the same speed as each other so people can just infinitely sprint away from someone chasing them with a melee weapon.

It's very solid and very fun in its current state I would say, with most EA games the expectation is that they are extremely janky and buggy but the only real problems with this are occasional server crashes/issues and poor optimization on client, both of which are major focuses for upcoming patches.
A lot of people are insanely skeptical of this game for whatever reason and saying 'oh look another game that will never leave early access' when consider PU's track record and the fact that they have a short 6 month planned EA period as seeming to be very organized and methodical about it doesn't leave me with much reason to believe it will be abandoned/left in EA, especially considering how successful it is and how obviously passionate PU is about making a good BR experience.
