Looking for a cheap case that will protect and compliment my iPhone.

I've been using the official Apple Bumper case for over a year now and its time is coming to an end. I've probably only got a few weeks until it is useless. The rubber is starting to snap round where you plug the earphones in. More than likely this is from removing it so I can dock it when it is at home to recharge and update ect.
I've looked into buying a new one. But I always come up to blatant cheap plastic cases that couldn't survive a waist high drop or over the top military grade cases that could survive explosions. I wouldn't mind one but I still need to get my iPhone into my pocket when I'm done using it and those cases just make the iPhone way to fat. One of the reasons I liked the bumper case was it didn't add much to the iPhone. It was easy to remove (although not healthy for the case) and easy to apply. Unlike things like the Griffin Survivor case.
I'm looking for basic protection against drops nothing to over the top.
Thanks for any recommendations.
Otterbox worked well for alot of people.
my bf actually owns this one rad @$$ case it's water proof and comes with like this screw on seal for the headphone part for when youre not using it. it was pretty silly because he was using it in the shower to watch videos and stuff with!
Check out Switcheasy cases. They're not super cheap but they're not expensive either.

Yeah, I know of some that are water proof. But they're normally really thick and impossible to get them into a trouser pocket.
I've found that literally any case made of silicon or another gel material will protect your phone, it's pretty hard to fuck up.

so really just go with what is cheap and looks good. I have a ten dollar black silicon case on my phone and I've dropped the damn thing down a flight of concrete stairs and it doesn't have a scratch

My step-dad has a gel case for his Nokia N8 and it looks like a thin leather layer. Just looking at it I know for a fact the phone would still damage if it was dropped.
Silicon and anything rubber-based is best as it absorbs the impact. I have one of these, but in blue:

I've dropped the iPhone plenty of times at stubborn looking angles and it's worked perfectly.
Also OP you didn't specify which iPhone model you have.

Only dents i have are on the front side of the case, which without edges on the front would have been a screen smasher

Sorry, I have an iPhone 4.
I am quite interested in the silicon cases since I've sort of gone off the bumper cases.
If you end up getting a case with a clear or nonexistant back.... My cousin sells some pretty cool vinyl stickers for apple devices.

Worth checking out at least, they make great stuff.
