So, I found my old Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 joystick which still works great, but I have this freezing problem.
I've tested it with only two games so far and the problem is a little different for both.
The first game is Battlefield 2, it won't start until I disconnect my joystick from the computer and after playing a while it'll just stop working. Sometimes the game freezes while in game.
Second game is Wings of Prey, which too won't start unless I disconnect my joystick. After launching the game it works fine though.
Is there a fix or should I invest for a new one (preferably cheap)?

Actually, I started playing Wings of Prey and just when I started a mission, the game crashed and my joystick stopped responding.
Try updating drivers.
