Would be interesting to see how Source handles more than 32 players on a server and with Hammer's boundries.
If Source 2 can pull it off I would be very amazed
Within, creator Tyler McVicker considers a number of references within each of the shooter's updates that haven't yet made it into the game—such as compound bows, bare-fisted combat, adrenaline shots, breach charges, sonar pulses and MK2 grenades, among a number of other as yet absent features consistent with the battle royale genre.
They might as well port the whole fucking game to Source 2 at this point.

Which they probably are doing. More or less.

didn't they say they were porting over last year? I remember seeing a quote a while back claiming it would be ported over in 2017

They've officially said they won't do a full port but will port features that need the updating. So the next main thing we're waiting for is panoramaUI which they did say they aimed to release in 2017.
i mean... it might be cool. would be at least one reason to play GO over source
Been expecting a CS:GO update for the last week, maybe tonight? Days are running out for us to have some festive chickens and there's normally a relatively large update before Christmas.
I know people on /r/GlobalOffensive have dreams of the (source 2) Panorama UI coming this year but it's unlikely. A survival gamemode sounds awesome but I can't see it happening anytime soon. It would make sense assuming the engine could handle it, seeing how successful PUBG has been.
I just want a new case, someone speculated these are them based on a bug where he could read a certain tag. http://steamcommunity.com/workshop/browse/?appid=730&browsesort=toprated§ion=mtxitems&requiredtags%5B%5D=chimera
Would it really be like PubG if it's limited to tiny maps and hitscan weapons?
Maybe Source 2 can make it happen
I fear that taking a game such as CS, with a very specific play style and mechanics, and doing something like this with it is just going to turn it into a mess; jack of all trades, master of none etc.

How would a different gamemode make the main game worse?
I'm gonna be that guy, CSGO has / had a hunger games / minecraft survival mod for it back in 2013, I know this because I played it and funnily enough so did quiet a few youtubers so you can see it yourself, the concept works with CS mechanics if you like that sort of thing at least. (which makes me laugh because PUBG 'did it first').
Anyway better maps would probaly have helped but it was an all right experience. As for map size being an issue, I doubt it. Iv'e played on plenty of 64 player zombie escape maps that are really damn large and surprisingly detailed. It's all to do with how well it's been optimised.
The video does seem to imply the Island map would have to be pretty big.
You can make kinda big maps in CSGO, but the set map limits are still a joke compared to PUBG or Rust. CSGO mostly allowed mappers to make large maps more detailed without having Hammer shitting itself, but not so much to make actually bigger maps. So yeah, Source 2 I guess, probably.
took em long enough
It's been in development since midway last year lol.
Way before we knew of pubg existing
smells like bullshit, unless they heavily modified source or ported to source 2 already

I don't think the engine allows for more than 64 players, but it handles 64 quite well if you have capable server hardware:

You can in theory have a 255 player count with source engine but every game has its own limits. Csgo is 64, GMOD 128 along with CSS. Tf2 is 32 etc..
I'll only accept it if they bring back func_vehicle.

Funnily enough this is the exact server I play on and the one I had in mind when typing my (mistake ridden) post. It can lag like a bitch but that is usually more to do with people from countries outside of europe joining it with 200+ ping but other than that it is usually smooth.

That sounds fucking sweet
honestly that sounds fun as fuck
