• What are the regional stereotypes in America?

So, over here in Europe we have quite a few stereotypes that tend to cling to the different countries/regions (And a lot within each country as well), and it's probably much the same situation over on the other side of the atlantic. For an example of some of the European Stereotypes we can have a look at the Eurovision voting chart: [img_thumb]http://lyricstranslations.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/eurovision-voting-pacts.jpg[/img_thumb] (See how many you can recognise.) Anyway, I am interested in hearing some of the stereotypes about the different states/regions in USA/Canada. I've heard the standard Texas --> rednecks, Florida --> Old people, California --> Stoners, so it would be nice to hear some stereotypes from the lesser talked about states, maybe even some of the more local stereotypes as well. And let's try to keep it civil. Friendly discussion is welcome, but let's keep shitstorms and flamewars out of here. I didn't make this thread to piss off people, but simply because I was curious. Oh, and regarding the post icon, I didn't really think the question tag fit, since stereotypes tend to vary.

You should add minority to 2, 3,and 7 as well.
You should add minority to 2, 3,and 7 as well.
Other than Texas with Mexicans and Mississippi with blacks, minorities are pretty much just in localized groups (Korea Town and East LA in California, for example) in 2, 3, and 7
I live in 3 and I'm not a redneck :colbert: Now my aunt and uncle on the other hand...
I live in Minnesota and I get called a Canadian a lot.

New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, have a lot of them. Gamblers and hookers are pretty localized anyways :colbert:

Interesting question, most stereotypes here are directed toward Southerners. Our stereotypes say that Southerners: Drink Moonshine Sexually engage with blood relatives Live in trailers Are Republicans Are stupid These are stereotypes, I don't say they are true, it's just for the thread.

Just around where I live, that's what people typically think of when they think of that region.
In the North it's like the movie Fargo. People are nice and they don't swear a lot and they pronounce things differently.

Or just circle the entire country and put "FAT" in the middle.
