I recently came into a little extra money and decided to use it to upgrade my system. I haven't built a computer or have studied parts/new generation in some time so I need some help deciding what to choose. I plan to upgrade my mobo, processor, and OS (changing to Windows 7). I might also have to buy a new PSU, I'm not too sure yet(It's a 350 Watt). But here's what I got so far. I live in the US and My budget all around will probably stop around 1k. I really don't wanna spend much more than that on new upgrades. I have a tower that is easy to access.

Motherboard.
Here is my mobo choice. I have two choices and I want to know which one is better or if I should trash both and choose a new one.
Mobo 1:
GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Mobo 2:
EVGA E758-A1 3-Way SLI (x16/x16/x8) LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard

-------------------
Processor.
I was looking at the Intel i7 series and was thinking about getting the 920, but the 950 dropped its price so I decided that the 950 would be a better buy for the money.

Memory.
With the new Windows 7 OS and my new mobo, I can have a maximum of 24 GB. Will I really need all 24? Right now I think that 6 GB of G Skill memory will be good enough. But it is incompatible with mobo #1. So I think I need help selecting my memory. Thanks!

I don't really want to replace my 8800 GT GPU because its only like a year old and I really enjoy the card.
The total for all that comes to around $800-850 so far (including Windows 7)
Thanks for the help!
I would start calling the thing of getting a i7 a little, not old, but late, as the Sandy Bridge and AMD's Bulldozer is released in some months. At the same time; do you really need a i7? And you will have to upgrade your PSU.
Get a Corsair 750 watt for that system, if you're going that high end go for a GTX480 too.

Alright, I'll keep that in mind. And I think the times i'll need it the most is when I'm gaming. That's pretty much it. And I figured I'd need a new one.

I wasn't really wanting to incorporate a gew GPU in my budget. But if I decide to change something in my current build then I might have room for it.
Change the CPU to a Phenom or a i5 750, the i7 is a waste money if you're into video editing and shit.
The 8800GT is still a somewhat decent card, and if you were to buy a new one, I would recommend a GTX 460 or better.
I'll go with Intel probably, so I shouldn't wait for the new SB gen coming out?
Why Intel? AMD is cheaper.. Not trying to favor AMD, but why do you want to go Intel?
