• Windows Aero Theme can't be used
    5 replies, posted
My computer recently had a windows update and restarted, and when it was booted the theme was on classic. So I went back to the colour schemes and selected the aero theme but the preview turns out to be black, and when I apply the aero scheme it does nothing. I tried googling solutions to this, but most of the solutions didn't do anything. I downloaded a "fix-it" thing from the windows site and it said that the current video card cannot display Aero effects. But I'm pretty my card is capable of displaying aero effects. Specs: Operating System MS Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit SP2 CPU Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 @ 2.66GHz Yorkfield 45nm Technology RAM 6.00 GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 398MHz (5-5-5-18) Motherboard Gateway G33M05G1 (Socket 775) Graphics 2036 (1600x900@60Hz) ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series (Sapphire/PCPartner) Hard Drives 733GB Seagate ST3750630AS (SATA) Optical Drives ATAPI DVD A DH16A6S PWTKFK NOLYFWXIV4LE SCSI CdRom Device Audio Realtek High Definition Audio
Could be video card driver issues. Use driver sweeper to remove all your current ATI/AMD drivers. Download and install the latest AMD drivers for your ATI card. You can also try opening the cmd prompt with administrator privileges and run these commands. net stop uxsms net start uxsms
Sounds like Windows thinks you have / you have a pirated version of Windows.
SomeGuest, I tried your solutions but they didn't work out. and Shadaez, I don't have a pirated version of windows.
screenshot of this please Windows probably thinks you do, it disables a bunch of features including Aero and background when it detects / thinks it's pirated.
I don't know why it won't show when I tag it as the "img" thing, but here's a link: http://imageshack.us/f/10/unledmjes.png/
