Zeno had some great gameplay. They also pushed the source engine in the first one, looked really nice, so sad to see they changed engines. I might buy it sometime in the future.

why is it sad that they switched to a superior engine
Because what they had already done was really nice.

But it looks almost exactly the same, just with nicer shaders and lighting.
Um...you do know art styles arent "limited" to the engine rite?
I've been playing it for a little over an hour.
It's really clunky.
The sound mixing is bad, most of the voice acting is bad.
The environments are great but don't reach their potential most of the time due to the really odd lighting choices.
There are a few moments where the quality shines through though.

I played the tutorial and the first area of the game before giving it a break for a bit. I really wish they'd applied shadows to many more objects in scenes, had higher shadow resolution settings (or whatever it is in Unreal Engine that makes shadows look like tons of lines) in the in-game config, a higher FOV (this game REALLY needs this so far) and higher resolution textures. Of all the graphical issues, the shadows and FOV are absolutely noticeable and take away from the immersion at times.
Aside from those downfalls, the scenery is better than ever as well as the new combat that overhauled everything. At least the FOV and shadows can be tweaked via the config file (I'd imagine at least, seeing as it's running on Unreal Engine) while you can't necessarily tweak combat the same way. I'm happy at least my issues are resolvable. Looking forward to playing again later.
It's so surreal it makes my head hurt. Having a lot of fun though.
It's also one of the games where if you want to really understand whats happening you should play the first.
Wow this snuck up on me. Wish we had money to spare. My mom got fired today so it seems like this'll have to go on the back burner for now.
