A video is recorded in 1080 and is rendered in 1080 and 2k. Both are uploaded to Youtube. The 1080 video goes up to 1080 and the 2k goes up to 2k. But say you watched the 2k video in 1080.. would it be the same quality as the 1080 video on Youtube?
Get what I'm saying?
Also, What if the video was recorded in 2k would it, in 1080, have less quality? Apply it to the question above.
Geez, I suck at wording this question. It's something I've always wanted to know for months now..
Because Youtube allocates a greater bitrate than that which is necessary to support the larger number of pixels, it will always be higher quality at 2k, even if you upscale the original.
Of course this only applies to Youtube and similar online video - upscaling video in any other situation is a bad idea.

Uh.. huh. I think I have to make a video to get this question answered..
Oh oh. Wait, you're saying 2k will actually look better then? Even if the original is in 1080.. huh.. what.

Yes.
Though you might get some artifacts from certain patterns on a 1080p monitor depending on how well Flash downscales video. Likely nowhere near as bad as the compression artifacts from Youtube's 1080p compared to 2k.
When you put a 1080p video up on YouTube, YouTube itself converts the video into a format that's still 1920x1080 pixels, but has less data to push over the network. As a result, there are artifacts (particularly with moving objects) that usually don't ruin the video to the point where it's unwatchable, but still cut down the quality.
But say you take that same video and upscale it to 2k. When you upload it to YouTube, YouTube reads the file as 2k and therefore allows more data to be pushed than the 1080p video. A user watching the video on YouTube will see the exact same results watching the first video in 1080p as the second video in 1080p. However, watching the second video in 2k (which isn't an option in the first) will look better than watching the first in 1080p.
Geez. This is confusing.. also.. I uploaded this today and the sound is waaaay screwed up.. What's going on?

When you say 2k do you mean bitrate? Sorry I'm new to video rendering
