Graphics card crashing when playing Fallout 3 and Oblivion

Lately, my graphics card (a Sapphire Toxic HD 4870) has been crashing when playing Fallout 3. I know it is my graphics card, because after the crashes I get a message saying that the card has crashed and recovered. I have the latest drivers downloaded, and still have the same problem. Anyone know something I can do to stop this happening, or do I have to get a new card?

Well if you're running 7 (I don't know about Vista, definitely not XP), you could try disabling visual themes. I read it somewhere here last night and it seemed to have worked for some people.

Disable visual themes altogether, or just on Fallout3/Oblivion?

I do still get this problem, but the crashes aren't related to my graphics card as often as they were.

Anyone else got any ideas? I have got the 10.9 drivers by the way.

Well, 10.9 drivers caused a lot of trouble for me. My Crossfire isn't working anymore after the update and rollbacking didn't help. So, 10.9 might be the problem.

Check it isn't overheating, download HWmonitor and check temps
