So they didn't have to register I'm just posting this for them.
"Well, basically I'm thinking of putting together a PC this winter. So I'm wondering what about $500 to possibly $600 would get me not including the monitor, mouse and keyboard. For all the new games such as the new Battlefield, new Call of Duty, etc, any games within the next 1.5 years or so. So yeah, gaming with a tad bit of messing around and programming. I guess you could throw in a nice <22 inch monitor or something too. I know this is a little early, just curious."
Working on it now. Price will be a bit over budget, because newer parts will be out, bring down the price of current parts.
Edit: Ok, I lied, price is way over budget. It's hard to get a decent build with a monitor for that price. Remove the monitor, and it's within budget.

Canada or USA?
This is his friend.
I'm from the US and yeah, price not including monitor. Was just curious about a decent monitor. Will probably need one though.
When people say building your own computer is cheaper than buying one. They mean in the long run. But if you need a computer that bad, get a basic OEM Dell Studio or something, then customize it when your budget reserves get higher.
Also, two great monitors are:
Acer H213H bmid Black 21.5" 5ms HDMI Full HD 1080P Widescreen 16:9 LCD Monitor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009157

I have the second one and it's really good.

No we don't, we mean in general. Buying a Dell and buying all the parts that will be put in that Dell gives a price difference of $100-200. Boxes.
Well, I don't need a PC that bad. Already have a decent one right now but was just wondering.
Thanks for that build Buttsex.
Are there any pre-built PCs that are $750 that are that good?
No, not really.
This one is somewhat decent.

Ah, didn't understand some of the above posts.
I'd have about $600 to spend on the actual PC itself, not including OS, monitor, mouse and keyboard.
Do you think the prices will drop anymore by Winter/will there probably be new and better stuff around the same price on that build buttsex?
Yes, graphics prices will drop hugely with the release of ATI 5 series cards, and other stuff will also be cheaper.

Alright cool, a decent 4870 setup will, like what buttsex posted will be able to run the new Battlefield and CoD right?
Easily.
Easily. The first one will be able to max them out, and the second will probably go near max.
