Hello. I'm having this issue for quite long time now, and its kinda annoying. When ever i have flash drive connected to USB port (does not matter whats in it; can be empty) after restarting pc bios wont go past "Verifying DMI Pool Data..." screen. Sounds like it's getting stuck trying to find a bootloader on the USB drive, change the boot order in the BIOS / unplug your flash drive
Make sure your HDD is the first in boot priority in BIOS.
You can also set it to not even look for bootable USB devices.
You can also set it to not even look for bootable USB devices.

Make sure your HDD is the first in boot priority in BIOS.
Thing is that now i need to install ubuntu somehow, and flash is only way i can do it. And ill go try messing with boot priorities. [editline]17th January 2011[/editline] After spending some time with boot priorities... nothing. I tied setting removable drive last in boot order, still same hang on "Verifying DMI Pool Data...". [editline]17th January 2011[/editline] My mistake. It's stuck at "Verifying DMI Pool Data..." only when flash is selected as boot device. Does boot drive file system has effect for booting? (NTFS or FAT32)
So the screen freezes at "Verifying DMI Pool Data..."? I had a hard time getting ubuntu to work on my laptop but that ended up being an issue with the screen and not the usb. The screen would turn black after a few seconds on start-up. It looks like you make the usb incorrectly or something. I'd try using a live CD if you can't get it to work with fat32 ?(I haven't tried using ntfs)
