• Does anyone here play Airway Sim or another airline management game?

It is an extroardinarily niche game. I do not know anyone who would actually play it for more than five seconds, realise what it is, and very quickly pretend they still have those five seconds. Even friends I have who are super into aircraft would not touch this game. It is a multiplayer airline management simulator and as far as I am aware (of the two I have played) it is definitely the best one in existence. It is browser based and requires no additional software. You play with a couple hundred other people and compete against them for airport demand. [URL="www.airwaysim.com/"]www.airwaysim.com/[/URL] (dw there is a free game world for you to waste those five seconds on without also wasting $$$) This is just my curiosity in how many people on Facepunch would actually fork out money for this game (like I have) and intend to play a single game for a year and a half (like I do). It's not a game thread or anything because I am not expecting anyone to actually play, just for you to all laugh, and that's what fast threads is for!! This is my plane Douglas. Currently all my planes are named Douglas. Mostly because you can't give your planes names beyond their registration. And for administrative reasons (the extra costs of maintaining two different brand of aircraft) I only fly the one manufacturer. Yes. It is this kind of game. [IMG_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/qGkYqAw.png[/IMG_thumb] Here is my current company overview. Note that it is currently 1960. This game goes until 2030. It will cost about 30 euro over 1.5 real time years to play it to the end (currently each day is 25 minutes long but that changes at certain times). Mostly my stats look bad (they are p bad), but actually (and I get excite about this too), fuel prices going up is good for me because... [IMG_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/BbbjBrv.png[/IMG_thumb] I hedged at $34 !!! I am clever. I just need to figure out if the Black-Scholes model relates to this at all. [IMG_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/oVGXmeG.png[/IMG_thumb] But it's not all dull, here see the cut throat world of Airwaysim. I setup my route about a day ago and this dumb airline found me and put my route over capacity so now the person with the best marketing, company image and lowest prices is the one who gets the business. [IMG_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/mGfNv43.png[/IMG_thumb] Finally, just random interest, you can set ticket prices, airline staff prices, give your staff bonuses, give yourself bonuses cut their wages, fire them etc.. You can also do marketing campaigns and sell aircraft to other players; the possibilities, as they say of my feelings of complete and utter lonliness (beyond the other 350 people in the entire world who play), are endless. If anyone is actually willing to fork out their money for this game, let me know~ and also, if you know of a game better than this let me know~ For those of you scared for my sanity, I work as an economist so graphs and $#!7 interest me.
I tried this game out 4+ years ago and didn't really care for it. But I actually do play a similar game occasionally titled [URL="http://www.airline-empires.com/index.php?/page/home.html"]Airline Empires[/URL] which seems really similar to this, except AE is free and maybe a little less polished. It's pretty good if you're into tycoon games and the like. As much as I like playing it, I still don't think I could see myself actually forking out cash for either game.
This looks like eve without the fun of space battles but with all the spreadsheets
i played pocket planes for a lil bit

(though considerably less complicated than eve tbh)
Are there any similair games but offline? I love aviation but I can't stand the type of games where you have to wait hours and days for something to happen.
I dunno. To be honest love the thrill of the wait
Didn't really like the pay model of Airway Sim so I started playing Airline Empires and having a blast. Playing on one of the newbie worlds at the moment. It's less polished than Airway Sim but Airline Empires is more streamlined and is easier for beginners to jump in to.
