• What Will Happen If I Install Windows Twice?
    2 replies, posted
There is an expired version of windows on my hard drive, and I have a new XP operating system disc. Since there is still the expired version on the hard drive, it tells me I'm installing two operating systems on the C: drive. Can I just install the new Windows XP over the expired one, or should I remove the old one? If I should remove the old one, how?
You'd want to reformat, by booting off of the Windows disk. Before so, make sure to back up important docs, files, etc, as everything on the hard-drive WILL BE ERASED.
You can do an new install on the same harddrive. Everything just gets shoved into a Windows.old folder. Just take your documents out of that, and delete it.
