The folks at AMD continue to release their regular monthly updates to their ATI Radeon Catalyst drivers and recently they have released the 9.7 versions of the drivers. For some reason the drivers released are just for the Windows Vista and Windows 7 versions; the Windows XP drivers will be released sometime soon, if they haven't been already. Check at the link above.
As usual AMD has also posted the release notes for the 9.7 drivers showing all of the new features and bug fixes. This is actually a minor update in terms of improved game performance; there are a few improvements for Crysis and Lost Planet Colonies with the Radeon HD4800 graphics chp but that's about it.
released today
Two days ago.
The only difference I've noticed is that they've changed the menus in the CCC a little bit.

Fallout 3 works fine here.

Wait, does that mean Resident Evil 5?
Wait, does that mean Resident Evil 5?
change card name to nviida 4870X2 see 10fps gains
i already get 140fps on the first level and then on the third and fourth it breaks and gets like 20

yeah there was a thread on /g/ where they found changing the card to anything nvidia gave better frames to the 2 and 3
you are misunderstanding me
1 and 2 run great (almost never dip below 100)
3 and 4 never go above 30
there is clearly a massive problem here
weird most people did fine in 4, 2 and 3 were the dipps
this isn't a dip
it's broken. after i run the whole benchmark once, and let it run automatically again, the first level gets around 20 now (instead of ~140). and it doesn't break on DX10 at all, but 1 and 2 run better on dx9
[editline]05:40PM[/editline]
how would i go about renaming the card
ATi Tray Tools, I think.
continue to release their regular monthly
Yep, that's AMD for you.

Very odd. On my 2 4850's, the game pretty much never goes under 55-60, and is usually as high as 70-80, which hardly matters since I have a 60Hz refresh rate monitor anyway.
Definitely something on your end. Check your 3D settings in CCC. I made sure to disable Catalyst AI along with the other useless settings, and for the AA and AF, I made it so that the program decides.
Haven't noticed any changes myself except for the appearance of the installer.
CCC is a fucking joke now.
I don't like the new layout :saddowns:

dx9 mode just dies totally after the first two when it was running better than dx10 beforehand
I don't really like the new UI
Are there any actual driver-side differences?
wow
this new ccc format is terrible what were they thinking

For anyone with an NVIDIA card/haven't gone to 9.7, this is what the CCC looks like

Good lord...
I reformat, download the graphics drivers from their website, load up CCC and find a shitstorm.
