My ISP is VirginMedia, and the broadband package is "Up to 10mb". Now I know that I'm not always going to get this, but I also know that by law they must give me at least half the speed they advertise.
I'm currently getting this:

My speeds were fine a few weeks ago, only recently have they begun to drop. And no, I haven't exceeded the download quota (FYI, if you download more than 800mb during peak times your internet is cut to 2.5mb for 5 hours.)
Does anyone have any solutions, and if it is my ISP's fault, what are my options?
key word is UP TO.

We got it in late 06 and my parents can't be bothered to upgrade/change ISP.

Also are you on a copper line or fiber optic?

Also yes, I'm on fiber.

also used to be that low. You probably just got capped for a short while.
Are you experiencing any bad weather?

Have you, you know, called your ISP about it? They should help you with your problem.

From almost middle of Canada, I have the best speed and ping of all my friends. I usually get 50ms. It could be worse op.

By law? I don't think so. My plan is up to 24MBit and I get this:

Ring your ISP. We don't have access to your network hardware, surprisingly.
By law they DO have to give you at least 50% in the US.
I'm on a 1.5mbps plan, rarely see more then .75mbps.
Whenever I call to threaten to switch I always wind up just agreeing to wait for them to sort out whatever problem they claim to have :sigh:

This was a few weeks ago, which is when the slowdown started, roughly. All the snow's melted since then, so that can't be the problem.
