no proof of it being a ddos and steam seems too dead for it to be a ddos. Also last year was the caching issue
You can't even download any games, lol.
I'm locked out of the client, can't play any of my games.
launch in offline mode, works for probably 90% of your singleplayer games.
i just realized how much i hate always online drm.
But it's not always online, you can just launch steam offline and play your games.
I'm locked out of the client, can't play any of my games.
How so ? I can still start in offline mode and play.
Well i cant launch my copy of Hitman i just bought because its FUCKING DENUVO and requires a steam connection to verify. (Then you can launch offline for like 2 weeks)
We can only hope that this will be a lesson on why monopolies are terrible.
Steam is not a monopoly. It holds the largest part of the market but not all of it or almost all of it.

If you buy a game on PC anywhere, there's a 90% chance that it's a Steam key. This includes retail outlets like EBGames, Best Buy, Walmart, etc. Heck, most Humble Store, Greenmangaming and the unfortunately named GamersGate sells their games as Steam keys. (even non-EA games on Origin are Steam keys)

Im pretty sure the Ubisoft games on Origin are uplay keys.
Also its not the developers fault they chose Steam as the platform of choice when they saw it had huge potential.

Are you actually trying to drag that into this?

Wow its really strange how steam has been down already for a few hours and there hasn't been any official announcement or anything that indicates what is going on in steam or in valve.
Wait... What if they are getting ready and changing their hardware...
For the load of people that is going to buy half-life 3 :v:?

Why the fuck are you bringing up Gamergate.
If you mentioned GamersGate just say GamersGate, you dont need to bring up Gamergate.

alternatively, valve might not know what the issue is
Wait there are services that are starting to go back on, it went from 0% to 36% just a sec ago.
(stats taken from https://steamstat.us/ )
EDIT:
50% now
EDIT 2:
And steam is back up
So i guess all those other services just dont exist.

I'm pretty sure uPlay and Origin sell Steam keys for games not developed in-house.
I'm pretty sure uPlay and Origin sell Steam keys for games not developed in-house.
Why would they?
If you buy shit on Uplay, it's giving you a uplay key. What are you talking about?
I'm pretty sure uPlay and Origin sell Steam keys for games not developed in-house.
Origin doesn't. I have Peggle and Plants vs Zombies on it and there's no steam key in sight, although both games are available on Steam.
