The host I was looking at was like $50 a month for the basics, I was wondering if there's a better place to get one.
one.com very cheap, gives free 1GB hosting right now, in the UK anyway.
I've heard good things about GoDaddy.com

I use them for my company's websites, not sure if they are the cheapest but they do a good job with it.
$50 a month? You must be looking at VPS. You'll probably be fine with a shared host, which are usually ~$100-150/year. That's your host, and your domain is a different thing and for that I'd say godaddy will be fine for you. But their hosting sucks.

(If you are in the UK that is)
I use GoDaddy for sites that'll get mostly US visitors.
one.com gives hosting and domains, used them before, very good. and cheap.
1and1.com is pretty cheap, and can do hosting.

I find their customer service to be beyond pathetic however. Their billing system is also odd.
I haven't tried this but it looks like a really awesome deal.

Unfortunately there's no such thing as unlimited hosting. I've learnt that the hard way.

GoDaddy.com for domain. Typically you don't want to buy your domain(s) from your host because you can't transfer it without incurring a stupid fee (like $15).
Godaddy always has coupons too:

For hosting, I have had experience with HostGator.com and WebHostingPad.com
Both hosts have been great, I moved to WebHostingPad (from HostGator) because it was cheaper. Both offer unlimited disk space and bandwidth. When paying for web hosting, I highly recommend pre-paying for at least a year (you save boatloads of money). Both hosts have good customer service and I have had an overall good experience with both of them.
WebHostingPad also has coupons:

I'm pretty sure there are still coupons for Hostgator that allow you to get the service for a month for a dollar or so (for the smallest package). That would allow you to test their services risk-free (no contract and a dollar isn't as bad as pre-paying for a year and not liking the service). Although, I too recommend Hostgator as it's a very good host.
Dont go with 1and1 it may be big but if youve been with them its not good. Try http://www.fasthosts.co.uk/ I swapped to them from 1and1 and have no problems that the customer support coudnt fix.
Godaady Coupons can be found here too: http://mmanuts.com/deals-godaddy-promo-codes/
