• $1000 High Performance Laptop

I'm needing a laptop for the rest of my senior year and for college starting up soon, and the limit is $1k. Hopefully it will be able to play modern games like Bad Company 2, Just Cause 2, or Crysis 2 without much of a fuss. I'm in GA, USA for location stuff. I've looked all around but most brands I'm finding don't seem to have very good prices. Doesn't have to have an OS but if it comes with Windows 7 or whatever that's cool too. I'm trying to get the best bang for my buck and I know you guys are really good at this stuff.
MSI GT660-003US NoteBook Intel Core i7 740QM(1.73GHz) 16" 6GB Memory 500GB HDD 7200rpm DVD Super Multi NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285M http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834152204 Best you're gonna get for $1000. Will run Bad Company 2 and Just Cause 2 ok at full resolution. Crysis 2 will probably be a little harder to run, but I can guess high at full resolution going at 40 FPS average.
You probably get this a lot, but desktop replacements get heavy and their battery life is atrocious. I would personally get a netbook or a small laptop and then use the rest on a desktop. The netbook would stay functional as a word processor for a long time and you could always upgrade your desktop when new games come out instead of getting a whole new laptop.
You'd be much better off getting the MSI GX660, not GT660. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834152231&cm_re=gx660-_-34-152-231-_-Product Much more powerful GPU.

Also I thought the GTX 285 was slightly better (like 1 frame or so more).
the 5870m is noticeably better than the 285, from what I'm seeing the 5870 it's usually ~5 fps faster I guess it boils down to whether you want more power for games, or for more CPU-oriented applications. [editline]14th February 2011[/editline] also I agree with Mipit's idea of desktop+netbook
5870 has DX11. Plus, GTX 285M variant of GT660 has some heat issues (in some cases)

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions.

I don't think I'm going to die without dx11
