How do you connect a wired 360 controller to the PC? I installed this here: http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/download/DownloadResult.aspx?category=Gaming&type=Gaming&name=C8G-00004&os=Win7_64&lang=en and followed the directions on the Microsoft website (http://support.xbox.com/support/en/us/xbox360/kb.aspx?ID=906347&lcid=1033&category=hardware). It does not detect it.
You plug it in and it works. If it doesn't do that you have a messed computer.
Wait so you don't need to even install software manually? Just plug and play? Specs: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit AMD Athlon II x2 250 ATi 4670 1 GB DDR3 4GB Patriot 1333mhz RAM Should I try uinstalling that stuff I downloaded? [editline]01:18PM[/editline] By the way the 4 ring things on the controller simutaneously blinking.
Plug and play. It works much like when plugging in a USB flash drive, it says "installing driver software" for a moment and then it works.

First I installed that microsoft stuff and then plugged the controller in. Right now I just shut down the computer to unplug the controller and then I uninstalled the microsoft stuff from the website. I am replugging the controller back in right now. [editline]01:26PM[/editline] Also, how do I know if it is actually working? [editline]01:36PM[/editline] Another thing: I'm using the "Play and Charge Kit" with a black 360 controller. Is it because it is not the controller for Windows? I read somewhere that you need a specific controller for using it in Windows, or can you use any 360 controller?
Play and charge is for power, it still connects wirelessly. You'll need the wireless dongle.
