Haven't heard of this before, the premise looks pretty cool. Also it looks like the latest set total war game because there are machineguns, iron clads and stuff.
Dat price tag D:
Dat price tag D:
It is stand alone though. [editline]16th January 2012[/editline]
Haven't heard of this before, the premise looks pretty cool.
Dat price tag D:
Well this is basically it's own standalone game.
Thanks but no thanks. Was hugely disappointed in both Shogun2 and CA's general business practices as of late.
God forbid they release DLC.
Thanks but no thanks. Was hugely disappointed in both Shogun2 and CA's general business practices as of late.
Biggest disappointment was the complete and utter lack of unit variety. Yes I know it was like that in Japan, but then don't set it in Japan, or at least have the Far East instead.
Please quote in my post where I was mad at them for producing DLC.

Am I the only one that played this for about 3 days and got extremely bored? It feels so much more linear and restrictive than the old TW's. Doesn't help that every single clan in the game is basically identical. The only way to get variation is to buy this DLC. Also, blood-effects DLC? What the flying fuck?
Not that post, but a different one. I knew immediately what you were referring to.
Can I play as Tom Cruise?
Would be cool if you could actually play as factions that represents the foreign powers themselves, instead of recruiting units from them.
"The only way to get variation is to buy this DLC". It's not that they're producing DLC that upsets me, it's that they completely shut down the modding scene so they could make more money off of said DLC.
But that's not true. They're released three unit packs, and one of them brought variety, even that being a small amount. The Ikko Ikki are really just monks and reskinned ashigaru and the Hattori just have different stats and are otherwise just like every other clan. The Sengoku Jidai pack actually added new units and costed... 3.25. A lack of variety was an intentional design choice to simplify gameplay, not an attempt to cash in on unit packs. And the modding scene is hardly shut down: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=1551 If you look here you'll see a vibrant mod community that's just now starting to build up steam.
Well this looks pretty damn interesting, especially that trailer they released of it a while ago. Looks refreshing, but I don't have enough to commit $30 yet.
Develop your own railway network to move armies and agents between your regions.
Train networks are an interesting idea
The attacking fleet must sail into the harbour and capture the port, running the gauntlet of coastal gun defences.
This actually sounds fun
New units can also be recruited from foreign powers, including the British Royal Marines, US Marine Corps and French Marines.
Interesting...
During a land battle, armies can call in offshore artillery support barrages.
HOLY FUCK
samurais vs marines seems p cool, might get
Thanks but no thanks. Was hugely disappointed in both Shogun2 and CA's general business practices as of late.
to each his own, but I thought Shogun 2 was fucking fantastic, the best to date, and I've loved every TW game since Rome (the first one I played) all the elements just blended so well, I think because it was concentrated in a relatively small area and with a relatively small unit variety [editline]16th January 2012[/editline] also this sounds fucking cool
The Last Samurai: The Game. Fucking sweet.
No promos this round? Sales drop 20%
Wasn't intrested, till i saw this.
Including modern ranged units - such as the Gatling gun and Armstrong gun - controllable in a new first-person mode.
... I can mow down samurai.. in ... in first person?
Wasn't intrested, till i saw this. ... I can mow down samurai.. in ... in first person?
Wait wait wait... I didn't see that. I WANT TO OWN AND PLAY THIS I WILL BEAR YOUR CHILDREN GIVE IT TO ME NOW CREATIVE ASSEMBLY
Biggest disappointment was the complete and utter lack of unit variety. Yes I know it was like that in Japan, but then don't set it in Japan, or at least have the Far East instead.
Lack of unit variety seems to be a weakness of Creative Assembly ever since Empire: Total War (though I have never played Napoleon).
CA did a good job with Napoleon at least, I can say just about every country has a great deal of unique units in the game.
Already pre-purchased. I think this current Total War game may be a good indicator as to what we could expect from future releases. However, I do hope they plan on going backwards to re-create Medieval 2 or at least a Rome II. Fingers crossed that is what's next gentlemen!
First person? How? Who? Getting it just to see how they do this.
I will be waiting for the TF2 promos first.
First person? How? Who? Getting it just to see how they do this.
This. The Ironclads look awesome as well. And also it looks more appealing to me than Shogun 2... with it's $2 blood and gore DLC pack... and amazing lack of other Asian nations. $2 for sprites, no Korea or China. SHAMEFUR DISPRAY!
Am I the only who hates the persistence for multiplayer? It completely ruined it for me.
I'd totally have bought by now if I had any cash at all.
I want it but I'm broke D:
