I need to backup some harddisks before formatting them, does anyone know a good and free program that can turn ALL the contents on a harddisk into a single image file (.iso for example). I've seen a numerous amount of programs on google but I can't find out which one is the best. :gonk:
Thanks for any help.

Wait... I just noticed that you need to back them up, that program doesn't do that, I thought you meant using a .iso.

Does this copy files and folders that are hidden by the operating system too?

This isn't really what you want, it'll make an iso but it won't let you copy everything back to the disk after you format. Windows 7 has a decent disk imaging program, but if you're on another OS I don't know.
clonezilla i think.
Dude, dl a linux live cd and use partimage. there are step by step instructions online for ubuntu livecds to do this process. Even explanations on how to restore the partitions using partimage too.
