• ROM not working properly

Okay, I got a ROM chip for my microPC project, and whenever I try to write to it, it garbles up the data. For instance, I write 00010000 to it, but it reads back as 11110000. Also, it's a 24 pin NVRAM* chip that's supposed to act as ROM. *It's a RAM chip with an onboard battery so you don't lose data when power is removed. Here's the list of what it's doing. Write | Read 00000000 | 00000000 00000001 | 00001111 00010000 | 11110000 00010001 | 11111111 If any of the upper or lower four bits has a 1 being written to it, the whole four bits turn 1.
