What is that little 1 after CF and how do you get that on a calculator?

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that the little 1 after CF separates it from CF with the little 2, since they both share the same variable name.

It reminds me of the distance formula: d = (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1)

CF_1 is the first element of CF, CF_n is the nth element of CF.
