• Computer Powering Down during gameplay

I've just recently started having a problem where my computer will completely turn off like the power has been cut, but it's only doing this during gameplay. I can leave it on for days at a time just browsing the internet and it is fine. If I try and turn it on again almost as soon as it turns off, then it turns off again before it even loads the OS, but if I leave it for a while then it's okay. I asked a friend who told me to check my CPU temp, which seems to be at around 80c constantly. After having it turned off for a long time, I started it up and went to BIOS and watching it steadily climb from <50c to 88c. I tried cleaning dust out of the computer but I'm not sure this helped.
Full specs including PSU brand / model
OS: Windows 7 64bit CPU: Intel i5 2.67GHz Quadcore RAM: 4GB DDR3 Graphics Card: ATI HD 5700 PSU: Antec Neopower 480 Watt
So its at 80c on 0 load? thats really really high. Open your case and dust it out using compressed air. [editline]6th October 2011[/editline] And check your GPU temp while you are at it.
Yeah I air dusted it out today, it seems to be running at better temperature. How do I check my GPU temp?
GPU-Z
GPU is 34c idle. 50c while playing Rift on decent settings
Ok thats fine. What are your CPU temps now? You can run Prime 95 for 5 minutes to get load temps.
I had the same problem where the computer would shut down for no apparent reason after prolonged time of use and it wasn't temps, but was the PSU itself failing. Fuckin' Rosewill.
