I know it sounds confusing, but this has been a really annoying problem for a while. If I try to click on a download link, or if I go on a website that automaticly starts a download, windows explorer opens my desktop folder. There is sometimes a way I can work around this, which is right clicking and pressing "save target as" but sometimes there is no link, such as on those automatic download sites. This has been happening for atleast a year now, and Yahoo answers couldn't help me the 3 times I asked this. I am using Internet Explorer 9, by the way. Does the fact that it is an old browser have anything to do with it?
Firefox has a default download location which you can set it to anywhere as well as nearly every damn browser and it would probably be fixed if you updated your old as hell IE
Congratulations! You answered something I don't care about. This has nothing to do with a default download location. It is simply that
windows explorer opens my desktop folder
everytime I try to download something. The file doesn't even get downloaded to that location. For the love of god, don't try to answer a question you don't know anything about.
Use a different browser.
Nobody has a good answer. Whatever...
