• Rapidly changing Wifi speed

Hey guys. I got a noname Edimax Edimax 802.11n Wireless PCI Card. Now when I view "Status" of my connection, I see the speed rapidly moving from 11 mbit/s to 140 mbit/s, ALWAYS using every speed inbetwenn(72 and what not). Signal strength is very good, PC and router are in the same room. Any ides? I seem to lag hard playing online.
The network card driver sometimes needs updating. Check optional updates in windows update, if there's no driver update on there you will have to go to the manufacturer's website
I had the same problem, it appears to be due with wireless in general. If you really want online gaming you need to get hardwired into the internet.

I play games just fine on wireless, no massive jumps in speed and the router is in another room from my location. OP, call your ISP and see if it's something on their end if updating your network card drivers don't make a difference.
I think I solved it. Had 10 mbit/s downloads on speedtest when I should have around 26. Noticed the speed jumping with wifi quality being stable so I Did this: http://www.sevenforums.com/network-sharing/74556-enable-disable-tcp-auto-tuning.html Up to 24 mbit/s now. Apparently that didn't quite solve it. I tried a different router, same problem, so that one is out. Seems like the wifi card is the problem, or some driver issues but damn I have the most recent ones and just bought the card a few months ago :( [editline]22nd April 2012[/editline] Fuck and now this thread is even on page one in google.
might help: http://compnetworking.about.com/od/wirelessfaqs/f/dynamicscaling.htm If you just got it, could it be that it's defective?
