Want to start Skateboarding, what parts will I need and how much will each cost?

As the title implies I want to get into skateboarding, however, I'm not 100% on what parts I will need to construct it or the tools to actually put all of it together.
Can you guys help me out?
Many thanks in advance!

Friend of mine recently bought a skateboard locally. It ran him 70$ for the basic board and all. I know it wasn't exactly the answer you were looking for, but if you have an interest I'd try asking a local board shop for information. They can get you a board that suits you best and will generally be honest with you in pricing.
Other important pointers...you'll probably break your wrist sooner or later from falling. It's a fun hobby to get into though. Enjoy it!
Cost me about $50 and I built it myself when I was younger... The crowd that usually hangs around the parks lives up to skateboards infamous stereotypes though...
Newbz is right about the crowd. You'd be surprised how many different types of people use skateboards in college just to get around though.
Thanks so much for all of the advice, already got my problem solved however.
Sorry if this was a dumb thread.
Make sure to wear a fucking helmet when you start out for a while. It may seem lame but the armor can save your life. I remember skateboarding a few years back and I wasn't wearing my helmet, A little tiny rock hit the front wheel and threw me forward and my head hit the side walk and I was knocked out my cousin said. My pupils were in the back of my head and when I awoken I couldn't move my right leg. Take my story as advice. Always wear your gear.(until you become close to good.) (Oh a good helmet can cost $10-$17
go on a skate store website and get a set-up (any will do but I'd recommend a 7.75 to 8.3), this way you'll get used to it as a whole and then when one bit wears out you can buy a new bit to replace it.
Start with an 8.0 deck. Their are lots of good companys though I highly suggest creature or any of the companys on DLX distribution (real, antihero, krooked) Dont believe the shit you might hear about board technologys (featherlight construction, carbon fiber inserts and all that) 95% of it is bullshit. Just stick to old fashioned Canadian maple.
Best trucks are probably Independents (ride the best fuck the rest) Though I know people who prefer other brands.
In terms of bearings just get bones reds, you will never need higher quality bearings unless you longboard and they are just the simplest brand I can name.
For Wheels its up to you, different people like different companys but I highly suggest bones wheels because they are extremely hard to flatspot and they last a long ass time. In terms of size about 50mm is probably best.
Its always best to buy from a local shop (zumiez dosent count) but heres one of the best places to go online http://www.skatewarehouse.com/
If you want more information on anything, have any questions on skating or just wanna talk about it send me a pm. Dont be shy :) This shit is my life and I dont think I could live with out it.
I'm just a point a to point b type cruiser so my stuff isn't geared towards doing fancy tricks or anything but
some fairly wide wheels, don't remember the brand
Titan Ti-Lite trucks; loose kingpin, soft bushing (tight kingpin and hard bushing if you ever want to ollie)
Some ABEC 9 bearings, don't remember the brand. you'll want some 7s just starting out
Element board, featherlight I think these boards are called. it's a 7 ply canadian maple deck. it was only $40 so I figured why not buy into the gimmicky shit
Black Magic griptape
quarter inch pads
I got all my stuff from a local shop years ago for about $100, prices on everything have gone way up since then because the tony hawk games made skateboarding big again and half the stuff I got from another shop going out of business and selling everything half off

my commute to school sent me down a flight of stairs, could you tell?

word of warning about the ti-lites
they're fragile. extraordinarily fragile. the bushing will rot out in a week and you'll probably want to get new ones
they're also the lightest trucks you'll ever find though so they've got that going for them. you could easily pick up a deck with your little finger with these trucks installed
