• Need to backup hard drive

Because my computer will not load Windows, I need to do a restore in which I will need to backup my hard drive. I bought a new one and put it into one of the backup slots. Now I have no idea how to back it up. There's a button that says "backup" but it doesn't do anything. There is nothing to plug in because it all ready is plugged in due to the computer all ready having wires in place. I have a Gateway LX Series (Model: LX6810-01)
try ubuntu or knoppix. they're both linux.. but they can read ntfs better than windows.
I can't change the operating system
What you need to do is do a fresh install on your new HDD. Then buy a docking station like this one. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817153071&cm_re=hard_drive_docking_station-_-17-153-071-_-Product Then plug the old HDD in via USB from the docking station and remove all the files you want from your old HDD. Restart and format the old HDD and you're done. Or you could do a fresh install on your new HDD then plug in your old one as a slave and do the same steps that way. It's really handy to have a docking station. I'm backing up my drives using one right now.
Okay thanks for the help
