just wondering if anyone folds here on facepunch, and whether its worth setting up a facepunch team?
I do Seti.
i have never tried SETI myself
Well this kinda goes with this. Do they have a folding at home client for the 5000 series cards yet.
There's already a team. Facepunch Studios Folding. Thread.
I used to do the PS3 one, but after a while my room kept getting way too hot :S
I once tried folding with the gpu client on my 4850, but it crashes my computer badly. :sigh: I probably wouldn't run it often anyway, my dad wouldn't be happy with the power usage.
I do Seti.
a waste of time IMO... why would you want to search for extra-terrestrial life when you can help cure diseases that you might one day have.
just wondering if anyone folds here on facepunch, and whether its worth setting up a facepunch team?
I turn on folding@home whenever I'm not playing games on my PS3
Had my dual opteron HD5770 machine folding for 3 days now. Will join the team if i get serious.
What is the point for the Folding@Home thing. I mean I know that it helps cure serious diseases but is there any sort of reward system or something?
the reward is the cure
exactly. it's a program meant for good-willed people trying to help out in the world.

SETI is funny. Too bad BOINC won't accept f@h.

F@H clients suck, I switched from F@H to the world community grid. It's sponsored by IBM and it has a client that makes use of a quad core cpu without bullshitting with the client just to get it to work. http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/

I do them folds while I'm on the computer, be it watching Farscape, playing Crysis or ME2 or writing/browsing Facepunch
Some information on folding@home would have been nice in OP so I wouldn't have to go google it to find out wtf you are talking about.
Some information on folding@home would have been nice in OP so I wouldn't have to go google it to find out wtf you are talking about.
Why re-invent the wheel? There's been a megathread on it already.
Yeah this has been discussed (first time I remember is about a week after I joined) but I still think it's a good idea
I was folding for a few months after the general facepunch stopped, so im second in the team running an 8800GT and Q6600
I think I would probably do it if I didn't turn my computer off at night. Kinda makes me regret buying fans with LEDs.
I might begin doing this soon, E8400 3.8 ghz, 9800gtx.
I fold for a team that's ranked #8 :smug:
