I'm upgrading my GPU to a GTS250 and CPU to a 3ghz dualcore, wondering if my 430w psu is going to cut it.
What brand is it? And specific model?
Compucase HEC, not sure of the model.
Hmm, Compucase has never personally failed me but go with a http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817256061 Chances are the 250 will run with the compucase though.
Well I had it running a 4850 and a 2ghz quadcore, with no issues I noticed. Think i'll stick with it for now. Another question about RAID, what do I need to get it working, a card? and does it matter if the hdds are the same brand?
Seems like they make the parts for Thermaltake.. So I guess it's ok, even though I haven't really heard of them.
If it aint broken, dont worry about it.
If it aint broken, dont worry about it.
If it's going to break, worry about it. It may take other components with it.
Thats true. But you really do not know if it is going to break. His compucase seems fine, I also suggested the silverstone.
I would probably recommend this one over the Silverstone: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341016&cm_re=ocz_modxstream-_-17-341-016-_-Product 3 year warrenty.
You're upgrading a 4850 to a GTS250? You won't notice ANY difference...
You're upgrading a 4850 to a GTS250? You won't notice ANY difference...
Wow, didn't notice. Yeah, op, you want notice any difference. And if you need to have such a small case, you won't be able to run more than a low-end 5*** series card.

It should work even if two hdd's are the same brand, but you'll get better performance if using two identical hdd's.
OCZ's psu's are mediocre. Sirfa has a bad reputation. Silverstone is its own OEM and can be trusted. OCZ's isnt so great...
I haven't read any complaints about the modxstream's, some complaints about the F4tal1ty, but not on the other PSU's.
I haven't read any complaints about the modxstream's, some complaints about the F4tal1ty, but not on the other PSU's.
Yeah, It goes on and off, OCZ's reputation is mixed. I still recommend silverstone, They are better then OCZ in terms of reliability and overall build. Still, Go for whichever is cheaper. They are both decent builds compared to Youngyear PSU's. [editline]12th December 2010[/editline] Scratch that about the OEM, I'm pretty dam sure FSP makes their PSU's. Or was it Seasonic. I forget. But if you want the absolute best PSUs on the market, get a Seasonic.
Enermax and PCP&C are better than Seasonic, but Seasonic is pretty close. [editline]12th December 2010[/editline] Also, both FSP and Seasonic makes their PSU's.
Not exactly upgrading, my 4850 died, so the 250 is just a replacement.
Not exactly upgrading, my 4850 died, so the 250 is just a replacement.
Get a new 4850, unless you're getting a rebate on the GTS 250.
