Will my piece of shit motherboard be able to mount a CPU fan properly?

Alright, so I want to put a proper CPU fan inside of my Dell 420 XPS. Before you laugh at me for buying a dell, the only things in it that haven't been completely replaced are the processor and motherboard. With that out of the way, I want to mount a proper CPU fan inside of it. Problem is, I don't know if it will even accept the brackets for one.
This is what currently sits on top of my CPU:

The two hooks on the right hook into a single bracket and it screws in on the other side.
Will I be able to put an aftermarket CPU fan in? and if so, what are your suggestions? I don't really want to spend more than $100 on this.
Probably not. Dell seems to make an effort to keep users from upgrading parts.
that's what I had assumed, but i still managed to replace the power supply, GPU, all the fans, and other misc parts that i didn't think would even be replacable. If I post pictures of the motherboard without the fan on, would that be of any help?
Yeah. But it need to be a better quality pic than what you already posted.
okay, can you come back in aboot 10 minutes?

Is this you're motherboard OP.

that's it exactly.
I measure the lengthxwidth of the screwholes, it appears to be about 3.5 inches by 4 inches. that's length left to right and height up and down.
I'm 90% sure that I can put a CPU fan in there.

You're not loosing much if you don't try. But remember to get thermal paste for the heatsink.

that's what the CPU area looks like with the shitty excuse for a cooling system currently in place. the red circles are the screw holes, and the bracket is up on top.
Note that this picture is turned sideways.

Mmm, yeah it may fit. But I'm worried it might not because of the chipset cooler right next to the processor. Attempt to get something that isnt to big.
Like I said, I measure the width/height of the screwholes, where the brackets would fit. It's about 3.5x4 inches, respectively.

I really don't know, I don't have too much expirience with Intel and I have never seen the CPU tilted on a angle like that.
Alright I figured out that it has a 775 socket. There's an assload of fans that fit that socket, that's not a problem. But what I need to know is
a.) will the fucking thing even fit and
b.) do I need to buy a whole new bracket for it?
I know its a socket 775, but I have never ever seen a motherboard with a tilted CPU.

I'm sorry but you got sacked by Dell, that tilted CPU is too prevent you from putting anything else on, there is no aftermark HSF that supports it as far as I know. Get a new motherboard.
yeah i don't know what the fuck that shit's about, that's just plain retarded as hell.
but based on the pictures, what all do I need to buy to even begin thinking about mounting a fan?
also, do fans just screw into those holes I highlighted? I don't know shit.
Congratulations. You got screwed by dell, enjoy purchasing a new motherboard.

for fucks sake.
do i really have to buy an entire new motherboard? I can't just pop a CPU fan in there?
[QUOTE=Javascript;26895536]for fucks sake.

Congratulations, you bought a dell :downs:
oh and that Cooler Master thing is what came with my computer. That exact fucking thing. You're sure I can't just pop a CPU fan in it?
[QUOTE=Javascript;26895536]for fucks sake.

If it cheers you up, the motherboard only costs twice as much as the heatsink and fan. Plus the thermal paste removal to clean the CPU.
With a dell (I have many of them here at home) you're pretty much fucked with absolutely every aspect with everything. After the holidays i'm going to get a job and do a monstrous build.

nope.avi
it's dell dude, they want nothing more than for you to buy another shitty xps from them.
Still doesn't answer my question.
Yes or no, can I not just pop a CPU fan in there. Do I need to go by mounting brackets for a 775 socket, yes or no.

I'm sure. But guess what! You will no longer have a dell motherboard if you purchase the new motherboard! If it makes you happy.

I usually skip on the thermal compound clean-up stuff, 100% rubbing alcohol does the trick for me.
fuuuuuuck.
alright, the only reason I was planning on buying a CPU fan was to get the current joke of a cooling system away from my graphics card because it's more or less blocking the entire fan slot.
any advice on how to get my graphics card to run a bit cooler? it's a GTX 470 in case you were wondering.

Me too, but OP said he knew jack shit. You can get that stuff at the drug store.

Don't remove the fan on the front of the case or you will get a fan failure error(Its a dell :downs:). I recommend you purchase a new motherboard and heatsink.
doonbugie stop being an ass.

How am I being a ass. I'm just joking about Dell. They like to screw you over in the end, its a sad truth. My friend had a Dell and it had a propietary power supply and motherboard, so I had to make him spend $14 on a adapter.
